FOR THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 7, 1998

DEAR JERRY: A mention in one of your recent columns about the Beatles members in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame left me wondering exactly who the enshrined artists are.

Any chance you might provide a complete listing of the folks who have been so honored?
—Rigel Hopkins, Lancaster, Pa.

DEAR RIGEL: Here is a complete listing of all of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, listed first by year of induction, then alphabetically. Following the “Performers” category are “Non-Performers” (some of whom are also established performers) and “Early Influences”:

IZ ZAT SO? As with any published list of selections for any purpose, one can always nit-pick over choices made by others. Still, some fair questions regarding the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees might be:

We have gals like Joni Mitchell, LaVern Baker and Ruth Brown, but where are the two most popular ladies of the '50s and '60s: Brenda Lee and Connie Francis?

The Beatles are in, as is John Lennon, but how can Paul McCartney not be right by his side? The Jackson 5 is in but shouldn't Michael Jackson have a separate plaque. Same could be said for Diana Ross of the Supremes.

Based on the inclusion of existing members, such as the Shirelles and Booker T. and the MGs, others who deserve to join these 140 inductees could soon include: Abba; Paul Anka; Frankie Avalon; Brook Benton; Jerry Butler; Freddy Cannon; Chubby Checker; Chicago; Eric Clapton; Dave Clark Five; Neil Diamond; Donovan; Guess Who (Burton Cummings); Hollies; Billy Joel; Tom Jones; Kiss; Madonna; Monkees; Moody Blues; O'Jays; Gene Pitney; Queen; Righteous Brothers; Bobby Rydell; Neil Sedaka; Sonny & Cher (or at least Cher); Bruce Springsteen; Ventures; and Dionne Warwick.

Surely each of you could add a few nominees of your own.
